Key Biscayne High School Update

 May 30, 2008,

We are very excited to be launching our completely revamped web-site www.hs4kb.com. We intend for the site to serve as a reference and communications platform for the High School Initiative. You’ll find tons of good information to stimulate your thinking about the great school we jointly plan to establish in our own community. Please make sure you visit and browse it often as the site will be frequently updated. Your feedback to enhance this site is greatly appreciated.

A major milestone is the creation of the Key Biscayne Education Foundation, Inc.  This nonprofit organization will focus on improving education opportunities for all residents of Key Biscayne, with the creation of the high school as its primary objective. You’ll hear more about the KBEF in the near future as the Foundation is officially launched and its website finished. In the mean time, please visit the “Act Now” section of our website, and please contribute. We need your financial support to make the school a reality in a reasonable period of time.

On June 5th we’ll enjoy our first ANNUAL SUMMERTIME BASH & FUNDRAISER event, sponsored by the Brito Family. See details here, or on the calendar section of our website. We look forward to seeing you there.

Most relevant news:

Fielding Nair International, a world-class consulting company, has been contracted by the Village to guide us through the charter school consulting engagement. Learn about this company in the Facilities section of our website, and read the news here or in the news section of the website. Consulting engagement will kick off in mid-June, and will last through end of this year.  The project will take a break from mid-June through end of August as most residents will be on summer vacation.  Keep tuned for workshops where you can participate and make a difference.

In spite of unexpected delays in the hiring of the charter consulting company, we have made significant progress over the last few months. Let’s keep building the momentum. Visit the “Act Now” section of our website and volunteer for upcoming events and contribute to its success. This is a community effort and it can only happen with your active support and participation.

Thank you,

Angel Martin
