Newsletter                                                           January 9, 2009

Dear Angel,

Happy New Year!

As we enter 2009, we'd like to thank the dozens of volunteers and hundreds of supporters that contributed to making 2008 a very intense and thriving year for the Key Biscayne High School and Lifelong Learning Center Initiative.  Read a summary of 2008: what we learned; our peak and valley; and our hopes and fears for 2009.

Charter School consultants draft feasibility report received by the Village

Fielding Nair International and EdVisions Schools submitted a draft report to the Village administration for their review on December 31, 2008. Our request to the Village Manager to view the report was denied. Hopefully the report will be available to us and the entire community within the next few days. Report is expected to contain Information on potential locations, school's  financials and consultants' views on how we can proceed with the charter school and Lifelong Learning Center Initiative.

We'll schedule an update meeting as soon as the information in the report is made available to us.

Islander News - 2008 Newsmaker of the Year: A Key Biscayne High School.
... a Key Biscayne high school is the obvious choice for Islander News "Newsmaker of the Year" - and "it promises to remain a big story throughout 2009."

"While the high school initiative in its current form really took off in 2008, the desire for a school is decades old and got its most recent revival in 2006, when then-Mayor Robert Oldakowski made it a focal point of his State of the Village Address." Read the Islander News report.
