Key Biscayne Charter School Application WebpageThe Key Biscayne Charter High School Application was submitted for review and approval to M-DCPS and Florida Department of Education. Several components of the Application will be discussed with the community and finalized over the next few months. The most important components to be finalized are Curriculum, Location and Governance. Application will be amended based on the outcome of community engagement through workshops and seminars to be conducted started in early September 2008. Key Biscayne Education Foundation TimetableM-DCPS will follow the following timetable during the review and approval process: August 7 – September 8, 2008: Application review and evaluation; interviews with founding / governing boards, and other pertinent individuals, as per the application; and discussion of results of District review of applications. October 2008: Submission of Applications for School Board consideration. November 2008 - February 2009: Charter School contract negotiations. Application must be approved by the School Board prior to negotiations (75 days per Statute) February - May 2009: School Board approval of contracts and Public Hearing. August 2009: Charter school commences operation consistent with Miami-Dade County Public Schools calendar. * Submission to School Board for Consideration may be later if mutually agreed by both parties. |
